Introduction
We
love nachos but hate the soggy chips. We want to be able to use our
nacho chips to scoop up the yummy toppings that have been piled upon
them. We want to be able to get the entire concoction into our mouth
without half of it falling onto our shirt.
One day the solution hit me. Rather than serving nachos the regular way, why not try something new?
Crunchy Chip Nachos Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey or hamburger
1 half onion, minced well
1 pkg taco seasoning
1 can refried beans
1 can nacho cheese soup
Toppings of choice:
Sour cream
Guacamole
Tomatoes, diced
Lettuce, shredded
Black olives, sliced
Sliced jalapeño peppers
Shredded cheese
Chips:
Round or triangle
Restaurant style or not
Yellow corn or white corn
Flavored (like Doritos) or plain
Instructions:
Fry
the meat in a skillet with the minced onions. When brown, add the taco
seasoning according to the directions on the packet. When done, add the
refried beans and heat thoroughly. Pour the mixture into a 9x13 pan.
Turn
off the heat on the skillet, but leave the pan hot and on the stove.
Pour the can of nacho cheese soup into the hot skillet, and add about
half a can of water. Stir until well blended and heated through. Pour
this into the 9x13 pan, on top of the meat/bean mixture.
Now
add the toppings as layers to your mixture, according to what you have
chosen to use, with sour cream and guacamole first, then the veggies,
and the cheese last.
If you add shredded cheese on top, you
may heat it in the oven at 350 degrees until the cheese begins to brown
a little. Depending upon your oven, it may take from 5 to 15 minutes.
Having
a variety of chips available to choose from makes this nacho recipe fun
and different. Provide a serving utensil so the nacho mix may be dished
out onto individual plates. Chips may be placed on the plate as well,
to the side of the nacho mix. Then all may scoop up their nacho mix
with their chips and not get it down the front of them!
